[CES 2016] Apple might have kicked off the trend of ultra-thin laptops, but at the same time there have also been many companies who have taken the idea and run with it. Acer is one of them and if you’re looking for a laptop that can game but won’t weigh a ton in your backpack, Acer’s Aspire V Nitro series could be worth checking out.
In fact if you needed a reason to check it out, Acer has recently updated its Aspire V Nitro Black Edition series of laptops with Intel’s RealSense camera technology. For those unfamiliar with RealSense, basically this brings gesture controls to the PC where it can track gestures and even recognize objects. It also allows users a more secure way of logging into Windows 10 via Microsoft’s Windows Hello feature.
Apart from the addition of Intel’s RealSense camera technology, the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition laptops appear to be pretty well setup for gaming. Under the hood, Intel’s latest 6th gen Core processors can be found. The Black Edition laptops will also support NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M graphics with up to 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM, and NVMe PCIe SSDs, which according to Acer are typically found on enterprise servers.
The Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition laptops will come in 15 and 17-inch options and will sport Acer’s TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio technology for an enhanced listening experience. The models with Intel’s RealSense cameras are priced starting at $1,099 and will be available in February 2016.
