xbox-one-hands-on-review-05One of the features promised by Microsoft that will be arriving on the Xbox One is the ability to choose and play your own background music. While music for games have been carefully created to match the mood and increase the immersiveness, there are just some gamers who function better with their own music.

Unfortunately if you were hoping for the feature to roll out soon, you might be disappointed to learn that it won’t, at least not for the next few months. This has been confirmed by Xbox boss Phil Spencer on Twitter who responded to a fan asking about the feature, in which Spencer said that it won’t be arriving before the summer, at the earliest.

We admit that we are bit curious as to why the feature is taking this long to be released. The feature was present on the Xbox 360 so like we said, it shouldn’t be too hard to introduce it to the Xbox One. However back in November, Xbox director of program management Mike Ybarra said that they wanted to do it in a special way that surprises fans, as opposed to just patching in a barebones music player.

We’re not sure if such a feature needs to be dressed up so much since the end result should be more or less the same, but either way it does not look like it will be arriving anytime soon, so Xbox One gamers should probably not hold their breaths.
