During the company’s quarterly earnings call Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that ExxonMobil will soon be adding support for Apple Pay to its Speedpass+ app that will enable customers to pay for their gas using Apple’s mobile payment service. When the support arrives customers will be able to pay for gas using their iPhone directly at the pump which is going to save them a lot of time and hassle as opposed to the conventional method of paying for gas.

Right now, Speedpass+ is supported at the company’s gas stations in Houston, Philadelphia, Nashville, Salt Lake City and Charlottesville. It has support for all major credit and select debit cards and is even able to link with the user’s personal checking account.

Many of ExxonMobil’s gas stations across the country do have Speedpass technology at pumps for RFID payments so it’s likely that Appe Pay support with devices like the Apple Watch could arrive in the future making it much easier for customers to pay for gas and be on their way.

Its rival Chevron has already started an Apple Pay pilot program in the Bay Area, the program went live last year, it lets customers for pay gas at the pump itself by simply tapping their iPhone or even the Apple Watch.
