Many fans of the Final Fantasy franchise will agree that Final Fantasy IX is one of the best games in the entire franchise. They will be particularly happy to hear that Square Enix has announced in Japan recently that this game is going to be released for PC and smartphones later this year.

Square Enix didn’t reveal when the title will be released in other markets, particularly North America, but it does without saying that Final Fantasy IX will most certainly arrive for both platforms in the United States considering the fact that all previous Final Fantasy mobile and PC ports have made it to the country.

It hasn’t been confirmed how much the port has been spruced up for PC and smartphones, the trailer does show sharpened and higher resolution versions of some of the favorite characters from this title, Square Enix has promised high speed mode, multiple game boosting features, auto-save, new achiements and improved graphics.

No release date has been confirmed yet even for Japan, it goes without saying that fans will have to anxiously keep waiting now for this title to be released in Japan first before it heads over to other markets. It may all take a while.
