Most smartphones these days have some kind of phone locator feature to help users track down lost or stolen devices. In some instances, the features have led to saving lives as well, such as when a woman trapped in a ravine was located. It has also led to the discovery to hundreds of thousands worth of stolen items.

However no feature is perfect because, for some strange reason, it has been reported that over in Atlanta, the feature has been leading people to one particular house where a couple Christina Lee and Michael Saba are staying at. According to the report from Fusion, it seems that on more than one occasion, people have turned up at their home demanding their phone back.

At one point in time, police forced the couple to stand outside while they searched their home because apparently a lost teenage girl’s phone led them to their location. It might be funny on the surface, but we can only imagine that there are plenty of angry owners out there who might resort to violence as they might not believe their story.

So far it is unclear as to why this couple’s home is the center point of the Find My Phone feature. iPhone forensics expert Jonathan Zdziarski suggested this could be due to a WiFi mapping problem while security analyst Ken Weston indicated it might be due to cell tower triangulation, but either way, it seems that whatever the problem is, the couple to date is still unable to rectify the situation.
