google-weather-new

We reported earlier this month that Google was testing a new design for its weather cards, the new design happened to be much more colorful than the previous design, with some interesting new graphics as well as a wealth of information about the weather. Google today announced that it’s now added a new weather experience to its Search app on Android.

When users search for “weather” or ask Google any question related to the weather like “will it rain today?” in the Google app on their Android smartphone, they’ll receive detailed information that includes hourly sky conditions and chance of rain, detailed 10-day forecast, severe weather alerts, UV index, air quality, sunrise and sunset times and more.

Users will be able to save their favorite locations by adding it to the app, chosen locations will then be listed in the drop-down in search. There’s also a new design that lets users know at a glance how the weather is going to be throughout the day, changing background colors respond to sky conditions, and “a new meteorologically inclined friend,” it’s a cute animation that lives within the weather experience.

Since it looks like this change has been made server-side, there doesn’t seem to be an app update, or an entirely new app for that matter. This means that it might take a short while for the new weather experience to go live for everybody.
