google_my_tracksWe’re not sure how many of you guys knew, but back in 2009, Google launched a fitness tracking app called My Tracks. The basic idea of the app is to track your fitness, like speed, distance, elevation, and so on, especially when you’re out running, jogging, cycling, and other kinds of physical activities.

In fact if we had to guess, My Tracks might have been Google’s attempt at a native app of other competing apps such as Runkeeper. That being said, it wasn’t a particularly popular app which is why after 7 years, Google has decided to call it quits on the app and will be ending support for the app at the end of April.

According to a post by Google Support, “After April 30, 2016, My Tracks will no longer be available. We apologize for the inconvenience this might cause My Tracks users. We’ve made the tough decision to invest our efforts into other, more wide-reaching, mapping projects.” To that end, Google has also recommended alternative apps like Strava, Endomondo, Map My Run, Map My Hike, GPS Logger for Android and GPX Viewer.

Like we said there are better apps out there and if you want apps that have Google Fit integration, the ones mentioned above could be worth checking out. In the meantime the app is still available for download so head on over to the Play Store if you’d like to download and keep it for nostalgic purposes.
