Fans of games have no doubt a lot of ideas that they’d love to see made a reality, but sometimes developers or publishers have their own ideas, meaning that fans sometimes need to resort to the community to make it happen. Sometimes developers aren’t cool with it, and sometimes they are, like in the case of Half-Life: Opposing Force.

For those unfamiliar, Opposing Force is the expansion for the original Half-Life title. However it seems that fans were clamoring to know more about what happens after, which is why fans decided to go ahead and create their own unofficial sequel. The good news is that Valve is apparently cool with the idea and has given the project the greenlight and it will see a release next month.

Dubbed Half-Life: Prospekt, the title is expected to make its way onto Steam on the 11th of February for $10. This is doubly interesting as it is pretty rare to not only see developers be okay with fan-made games, but to allow them to sell it on their storefront as well, although we’re guessing the cut they receive from the sales probably won’t hurt.

According to the game’s description, “Prospekt begins in the Nova Prospekt prison in the Half-Life universe. Gordon Freeman is slowly being overrun by soldiers in the prison, however unknown to him, his Vortigaunt allies manage to find some help from a forgotten hero.” In the meantime, if you’d like to pre-order the game, you can do so on its Steam page.
