star wars monopolyWhen Hasbro initially unveiled its new Monopoly: Star Wars edition, many were quick to criticize the set simply because a key character from The Force Awakens movie, Rey, was not there. The game had pieces for Darth Vader, Finn, Luke Skywalker, and Kylo Ren, but no Rey which is odd considering what a key figure she is in the movie.

Hasbro had initially defended their decision, saying that by adding Rey it would constitute as a spoiler for the movie for those who hadn’t seen it. “The Star Wars: Monopoly game was released in September, months before the movie’s release. Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance.” The good news is that Hasbro seems to have come to their senses because in a recent tweet by the company, they have announced that they will be reversing their decision.

According to Hasbro, “We love your passion for Rey, and are happy to share that we will be including her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game, available later this year.” Like we said it did not make sense not to include her character, or even weirder why would Darth Vader be there as he’s not really a key character in the movie anyway, right? In any case if you’d like to get your hands on the copy with Rey, you can expect its release later this year.
