android-6.0-marshmallow

It has been a few months since Google released Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As is the case with major Android software updates the first in line to receive the new software were Google’s Nexus devices. The majority of third-party OEMs are still on Lollipop though it’s likely that many will be updated to Marshmallow in the near future. HTC has confirmed that the One M8 on two U.S. carriers is going to receive the much-awaited update later this month.

HTC’s Mo Versi, the product management chief, took to Twitter recently to confirm that the company will release the Marshmallow update for HTC One M9 owners on SaskTel, Wind, Videotron and Rogers in Canada come January 18th. This obviously led to queries from people on U.S. carriers and he responded to the ones about the HTC One M8.

When asked about the company’s plans for releasing Marshmallow on Sprint’s version of the One M8, Versi revealed that the company is looking at a target of “mid next week” to get the update out. Unless there are any issues the target should be met.

He also responded to a query about the update status for T-Mobile’s One M8, mentioning that the update is currently in the lab and should be ready soon. HTC’s target for getting this update out the door is January 25th, 2016.

There isn’t news for users on AT&T or Verizon though, only that the company requires a “few more weeks” for an update is ready for HTC One M9 users on AT&T.
