legacy of the beastIf you’re looking for a new RPG to play, a potential title you might want to explore could be coming from a rather unusual source – English rock band Iron Maiden. The band is said to be developing a video game for mobile dubbed Legacy of the Beast and it is expected to launch on both iOS and Android this summer.

According to the official description, “Players explore new worlds, travel through time, and battle a cast of dramatic and engaging characters drawn from the expansive catalogue of Maiden’s albums and art. Gameplay is enhanced with a soundtrack using songs spanning the band’s entire career, including previously unheard live recordings of Iron Maiden classics adapted for the game by engineer Tony Newton under the close scrutiny of bassist and founding member Steve Harris.”

Now you’re probably thinking, what do bands know about video games? Turns out Iron Maiden isn’t the first band or musician to think up such an idea. Other bands such as Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold have launched their own games in past, and musicians such as Skrillex have created their own mobile games too as a means to promote themselves and their new albums.

Of course whether or not Legacy of the Beast will be a successful game remains to be seen, but for fans of the band, we guess this is an app that you’ll want to look forward to upon its release later this year.
