jolla-tabletLast year the Sailfish OS powered Jolla tablet was launched on Indiegogo. It seemed that despite iOS and Android being the more dominant operating system, there are still plenty of users out there who are seeking alternatives because the tablet managed to raise over $2.5 million in funding from the public.

Unfortunately, it seems that if you decided to back the tablet and hoped to get one thanks to your contributions, you might be disappointed as Jolla has recently confirmed that there will be several backers who will not be able to get the tablet. This was revealed by the company on their blog.

According to Jolla, “The bad news here is that we are not able to complete the production to fulfill all contributions. In other words, all of our backers will not get a Jolla Tablet. However, you can be sure you will not end up empty-handed. We might even have some positive surprises in stock for you. But more on that will follow, feel free to speculate!”

For those unfamiliar with Jolla’s situation, the company had struggled financially which led to them eventually laying off staff and applying for debt restructuring, which is basically the equivalent of a bankruptcy filing. However the upside is that they have since managed to receive new financial backing, although it seems that despite the injection of new funds, some of the tablet’s backers will still go home a bit disappointed and without their product.
