Leica has launched an amazing rugged camera today that will be at home both outdoors and underwater. It’s called the X-U and it has all the hallmarks of the classic Leica design, the camera is sleek and compact particularly compared against other rugged cameras, and is very durable as its dustproof, waterproof and shockproof. Leica X-U can actually be submerged in up to 49 feet of water without having to worry about the camera being damaged.

There’s a 16 megapixel APS-C sensor inside the X-U and it also features a 3 inch LCD display, aside from a fixed 23mm f/1.7 lens. It won’t let you shoot 4K videos though, the best it can do is 720p and 1080p video capture at 30 frames-per-second. Max ISO can reach as high as 12,500.

It’s capable of taking whatever the elements throw at it, be it tropical heat, pouring rain or a blizzard, Lecia’s rugged camera will prove to be the perfect companion for any outdoor project or journey.

Lecia’s rugged camera has an amazing design and very strudy build which is why it comes at a very high price. The X-U is going to be available for purchase by the end of this month for the pretty high price of $2,950. They say you get what you pay for, and with the X-U, you’ll get an excellent rugged camera for your money.
