lenovo_project_tango_ces_2016_inviteIf you’re curious about the future of Google’s Project Tango, you might be interested to learn that Google and Lenovo will be teaming up to make an announcement on the 7th of January, as you can see from the teaser above. Interestingly enough this takes place right smack in the middle of CES 2016, which we suppose is as good a platform as any.

Unfortunately apart from the image of a shared announcement, not much else is known about what both companies will be announcing. However according to the tagline, it reads, “Mobile devices should see and navigate the world, the way we do.” Perhaps this might be some kind of hardware announcement where Lenovo will announce that they will be the ones manufacturing the Project Tango devices.

For those who are learning about Project Tango for the first time, the project was launched back in 2014. Through the use of cameras and sensors installed in the phone, it allows the device to determine its location in 3D. The cameras will also allow users to map out rooms and areas in 3D just by walking around and using its cameras.

This should lead to better indoor maps, and might come in handy for architects and interior designers. In any case, more details should be revealed in the coming days so be sure to check back with us then for the updates!
