YOGA-900-BE-05_Hero_Shot_WiLenovo has announced the YOGA 900 Business Edition laptop, which is built on the YOGA 900 design that we reviewed. The main novelty is the TPM chip (Trusted Platform Module), which contains a crypto-processor along with security keys that allow enterprise-grade security if the laptop was ever lost or stolen.

The TPM chip is designed to prevent the hacking of key elements such as the computer BIOS and the operating system itself. It ensures the integrity of the various programs that were preloaded into the system, and is the foundation of a “chain of trust” that extends from the computer basic hardware and software functions, all the way to the Operating System. This works by encrypting all the data with a password, and preventing large-scale attacks to guess that password by brute-force.

Other than the TPM, the look, feel and configuration options of the YOGA 900 Business Edition are similar to the YOGA 900 for regular consumers and creative users: it can feature a maximum of 512GB of storage, 16GB of memory and is powered by the latest mobile Intel Core i7 processor.

The YOGA line has been very popular because its screen can swivel 360-degrees to turn into a Windows Tablet. It is also extremely thin and light and offers excellent performance for the weight, but also for the price. At this time, Lenovo has not communicated how much more it would charge for this version although it’s curious that TPM wasn’t integrated into the original YOGA 900 instead of building two distinct models.
