nokia-lumia-520Can you believe that a hugely popular handset back in 2013 is still very popular today – and by popular, I do not mean in terms of it flying off the shelves every month, but rather, the context would be in the number of existing users. Well, the entry-level Nokia Lumia 520 happened to be the most popular Windows Phone handset in the world 28 months ago, and it seems that this little device that could continues to maintain a stranglehold on its “reign” even until now, as the most widely used Windows Phone model in the world. Perhaps this is because the Windows Phone platform never really took off in a big way, or folks didn’t bother to upgrade their device to a newer model, who knows? There are many ways in which one will be able to interpret the data as well as the journey to a conclusion, but for now, cross-promotion network AdDuplex are the ones with the numbers concerning Windows Phone handset usage.

It looks as though as of last week, it was the Lumia 520 that commanded up 12.9% of Windows Phone models that are being used worldwide at the moment. In second place at 11.7% would be the Microsoft Lumia 535, whereas the Microsoft Lumia 640 carries a 6.3% figure, with the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL being owned 3.3%. AdDuplex claims that it is the high pricing of the Microsoft Lumia 950 and Microsoft Lumia 950 XL that proved to be the main deterrent for these two models to make an appearance. What do you think?
