hangover-free-alcoholWe all know that North Korea is one of the most closed up nations in the world, and the people there have definitely been suffering more than others. On the outside, it looks like there is no better place to be than there, but over the decades, with many defectors from the North making their way out of the country, you know that all is not right in there. The country has played host to outlandish claims in the past, and here is another that one ought to take with a grain of salt – scientists there claimed that they have managed to invent hangover-free alcohol, and if true, it should be one of the most sought after drinks, taking into consideration how one can have the buzz of booze sans the trainwreck that follows the morning after.

State-run news outlet Pyongyang Times cites that ginseng-based Koryo liquor will not be able to result in a hangover for whoever drinks it in copious amounts thanks to a new kind of production method employed. Koryo liquor has been described to be “suave,” and while it contains anywhere between 30 and 40 percent alcohol, some tweaks to the original recipe is said to result in this new miracle drink.

Years of research saw the factory make a change in its production method, relying on “boiled and scorched glutinous rice instead of sugar.” The report further added, “Koryo Liquor, which is made of six-year-old Kaesong Koryo insam, known as being highest in medicinal effect, and the scorched rice, is highly appreciated by experts and lovers as it is suave and causes no hangover.” Since it is sold only in North Korea, there is no way for us in the free world to verify it.
