oneplus-x_ubergizmo_06Just like what OnePlus has done with its previous devices, customers will need an invite in order to purchase a phone. However the company has been somewhat relaxing this policy in the past few months, like in the case of the OnePlus X in which every Tuesday, the phone would be open to the public without the need for an invite.

That being said, it looks like the company has decided to do away with the system entirely. They have announced in the forums that starting from now, customers who wish to purchase the OnePlus X can go ahead and do so, regardless of whether they have an invitation or not. According to them, this is due to OnePlus getting a better handle on their inventory.

“We’re extremely excited to be making the OnePlus X invite-free more quickly this time around. With every device we release, we grow more mature and more adept at handling the demands and expectations of our community.” OnePlus is a relatively new company, having only 3 phones under its belt in the past 2 years, so safe to say that things didn’t necessarily run smoothly at the start, hence the invite system.

Hopefully this means that in the future with new OnePlus devices, the invite system will be done away with, or at least reduced where it plays a less vital role in trying to secure a device from them. If you’d like to get your hands on the device, head on over to OnePlus’ website for the details.
