friends tv showFor those of you who watched their favorite episodes of Friends over and over again on Netflix, wishing that there was a reunion of the cast to provide some closure, how about letting a robot do the job with the script? Scottish cartoonist Andy Pandy has come up with such a robot, where he made use of a “recurrent neural network” in order to generate the new robot written episodes. This particular network was given scripts from all episodes of Friends in order for the robot to get a grasp of the characters within, the kind of speaking style and plot points, so that a new episode could be birthed.

The results were stunning to say the least, and some of these scripts were interestingly titled, such as “The Incest Plot” with Monica calling out to Ross before both of them were involved in a passionate kiss. Apart from that, there is the “Return Of Gary”, where Gary returns to carry out a conversation with Rachel and Joey, although it remains to be seen whether things will work out between Gary and Phoebe. How about “Monica Goes To Minsk”? You hear Rachel respond with a rather sardonic, “Yeah, sure” when Monica shares her thoughts of going to Minsk, capturing the essence of the characters rather accurately.

After all, if robots can paint, why not write scripts for a well loved sitcom?
