When it comes to losing weight, exercise is just one side of it. Keeping a healthy diet is another side and as most health experts would agree, it is probably one of the biggest and most important sides. So to lose weight, the basic idea is to keep the amount of calories you consume less than what your body burns on a daily basis.

For those who are clueless, apps such as MyFitnessPal keeps a log of food to help you keep track of calories, but what if you eat foods that aren’t listed? The good news is that there is now a smartphone accessory by the name of NutriRay3D that will be able to scan your food to determine how many calories it contains.

According to the description of the device, “NutriRay3D uses a (such and such) laser technology to obtain a scan of any food item, and with the help of image processing, is able to accurately calculate the volume and calorie intake. Its portability and accessibility allows users to efficiently and effectively measure their diets.”

According to Engadget, the NutriRay3D was originally designed for use by researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, so with this Indiegogo campaign, it plans on making it more accessible to regular folks. If you think that the NutriRay3D has merit, then head on over to its Indiegogo page and pledge your support with a donation.
