snapchat

Snapchat could have made it much easier to add friends from the get go but it didn’t. Either people have to search for you by username or you have to first open the app and get your personalized Snapcode which your friend then has to take a picture of using their smartphone. It’s tedious and has a lot of unnecessary steps. Snapchat has finally made it very easy to add new friends and the solution is personalized URLs.

Snapchat has added this personalized URLs feature rather quietly and it has only just been discovered in the app. It lets users create a unique URL which they can share with friends. Personalized URLs can be accessed by pulling down on the menu bar in camera mode and tapping on Add Friends.

There you will notice a new menu item called Share Username. The URL can easily be shared with friends via SMS, email, basically every messaging service because it’s just a link after all. When your friend taps on this link it will automatically tell Snapchat to add you as a new friend.

Snapchat may have rolled out this feature quietly but it’s a big change nonetheless because it has significantly streamlined the whole experience. There are no extra steps that require more time and effort, and since these are just links, it’s easy to share them across social media as well to allow their friends to easily add them with just one tap.
