t-mobile binge on

There has been a lot of debate about T-Mobile’s Binge On program, debate which landed CEO John Legere in hot water over some remarks he made towards those opposed to this program, but it carries on nonetheless and is actually expanding the list of services that are supported. Through Binge On T-Mobile customers can watch streaming video from supported services without having it count against their monthly data allotment. T-Mobile today announced that it has added support for Amazon Prime Video to Binge On.

Amazon isn’t the only new source that has just been added to Binge On, new additions also include the WWE Network, Fox News and Univision NOW. Services that are already supported include HBO Now, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, Sling TV and many others.

T-Mobile also released new data today which shows that its customers are now viewing more video than they did before Binge On was launched. It says that customers with limited speed data who qualify for Binge On are now watching twice as many hours per day from free services than before. Since this program was launched customers have streamed 34 petabytes of data for free.

The carrier is now making it easier to manage Binge On settings. There are new shortcodes that let customers instantly check or change their personal settings from the smartphone itself, #264# to check settings, #263# to turn off Binge On and #266# to turn on Binge On. Access to settings has also been streamlined on MyT-Mobile.com as well as through a newly released app.

The only catch with Binge On is that it streams data at DVD quality (480p or better), that’s the trade customers have to make so that the streaming data doesn’t eat into their monthly allotment.
