1password

A new major update for 1Password for Android has been released today and it’s available for download immediately from the Google Play Store. It brings an overhauled user interface with Material Design so there’s cleaner and spacious layout, toolbars, navigation drawer and many other updated design elements. There’s also support for fingerprint unlock in the latest version of the app.

The new version, 1Password 6, can be unlocked via fingerprint. Obviously, for this to work you’ll need to have an Android device that actually has a fingerprint sensor. Most flagships do. Fingerprint unlock feature is supported on all devices with a fingerprint scanner and they have to be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow for this to work.

1Password for Teams is also included in this app. It’s an easy way of selectively sharing information with a team or even members of a family. Support for this feature is in beta right now but it’s available to use in the updated app.

Improvements have also been made to Wi-Fi Sync, the icons for categories and settings have been refreshed, and there’s a new floating button as you’d expect in a Material Design app that can be used to add new items.

1Password 6 for Android is now available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
