galaxy-s6-vs-galaxy-s6-edge_01It has been a while since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow was announced, and leaked Samsung roadmaps have indicated that the update appears to have been delayed a couple of times. For those who own the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge, you will be pleased to learn that Samsung has announced the update’s availability.

The update is now rolling out on a global scale starting today, the 15th of February. It will be for both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. As for other models, Samsung is expected to make announcements later. “For upgradable models, Samsung will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.”

For those who bought the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge from a carrier, your update might be delayed a little bit. This is because as Samsung points out, for some devices, carrier approval is needed before the update is made available. However since the update is already available, we reckon it shouldn’t be too long before carriers give the greenlight.

In the meantime if you don’t see your update yet, don’t worry as we expect that the update is being rolled out gradually, so eventually it should make its way onto your phone. In the meantime it’s probably best to clear out some space for the update, and make sure your phone is connected to WiFi.
