Yesterday we reported that according to the rumors, Apple is said to be introducing a screen protector program where if you were to buy screen protectors from one of their partners (one of the reported partners is Belkin), there is a special machine that Apple retail staff will use to help apply your screen protectors.

Turns out the rumors were true because a report from Macotakara (via 9to5Mac) has revealed that Apple has begun rolling out the program over in Japan. As you can see in the video above, the store will have a couple of machines from Belkin that will apply screen protectors on the newer iPhone models: the iPhone 6/6s and the 6 Plus/6s Plus.

Employees will first check to ensure that the screen is clear of dust and particles (this could cause air bubbles) before placing the phone in the machine, after which the application process is simple and straightforward, with the phone’s display and screen protector being perfectly aligned.

Customers can then inspect the finished product, and if for whatever reason they think that it isn’t aligned properly, Apple will apply it again at no extra cost. No word on when this feature will arrive stateside, but safe to say that it will save users a lot of time and frustration from having to apply their own screen protectors.
