They say you should be very careful about what you post online and they’re most certainly right. In this highly connected world of today, you can’t really expect something you publicly post online to not go beyond the intended circle and often that can land you in some hot water. Learn from Daniel Sledden’s experience, this drug dealer’s vulgar Facebook post has come back to bite him.

Sledden was handed a two-year suspended sentence last week at the Burnley Crown Court in the United Kingdom. He pleaded guilty to selling weed from his home, and perhaps it was that guilty plea that convinced Judge Beverley Lunt to hand down a suspended sentence.

He could have let the matter rest. Sure, he had a suspended sentence as part of his permanent record, but it’s like he was going to jail. But no, Sledden just had to go on Facebook and express the following:

“Cannot believe my luck 2 year suspended sentence beats the 3 year jail yes pal! Beverly Lunt go suck my ****,” he has since removed the status but the damage has been done.

It’s one thing to post on Facebook how you’ve duped your boss by calling in sick while you’re out having fun, while that might get you fired, abusing a judge is going to have far more serious consequences.

In Sledden’s case, even though he has offered an apology through his Facebook account, he may very well end up going to jail now since he’s now been ordered to appear before the court next Tuesday for resentencing.
