Most phones these days comes with a feature that helps you track the device in the event you’ve misplaced. In the past we have read of how the feature has been beneficial in locating not just phones that are lost, but people who are lost but have their phones on them. Recently it looks like Apple’s Find My iPhone feature just scored another victory by helping to locate a kidnapped teen.According to the report from NBC News, a mother reported that her 18-year old daughter was taken against her will by an ex-boyfriend. According to a statement by the Pennsylvania State Police, “The victim’s mother related that she had been receiving text messages from her daughter requesting help. The mother was able to track the victim’s cellphone by utilizing the iCloud [and] Find My iPhone app.”
Thanks to the tracking feature, the teen was located in a car in Milesburg, Pennsylvania about 150 miles east of Pittsburgh. “The investigation revealed that the suspect had utilized duct tape to bind the victim’s hands, feet and mouth to remove her from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, against her will. The defendant was attempting to leave Pennsylvania with the victim.”
The suspect has since been arrested and his bail has been set at $150,000. Like we said, this isn’t the first time Find My iPhone has led to pretty happy endings, although in the past we have read of how the feature has led to tragedy, which thankfully has not happened in this case.
