For those who love to enjoy their fair bit of retro gaming, here is something that you might want to consider – picking up an Xbox One. Wait a minute, isn’t the Xbox One a current generation console, where it delivers some of the best looking graphics as well? No doubt the Xbox One also has the firepower to run far older games when graphics were 2D in nature, and hence, it is too long a time to wait – but well worth it, that Galaga is now downloadable and playable on the Xbox One, bringing some classic arcade shooting goodness to the living room (or wherever you decide to enjoy your Xbox One).

This Xbox 360 version of the classic arcade shooter Galaga is now officially backward compatible with Xbox One, and for those who picked up the game in their Xbox 360 days can perform a free download by heading to the Ready To Install section on your Xbox One. Of course, if you feel that you have £3.39 to spare, you can also choose to head on to Xbox.com and perform a download.

Galaga arrived at arcades in 1981, and it is close to 30 years before arriving on Xbox Live Arcade in 2010, where players pit their wits against increasingly hostile and aggressive waves of aliens. Down the road, other backwards compatible titles will include Call of Duty: Black Ops, BioShock Infinite, Burnout Paradise, Hitman Absolution, Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption.
