galaxy s7 s7 edge render 2

Much has already been rumored and leaked about the Galaxy S7. Samsung itself confirmed yesterday that it’s going to conduct a press event on February 21st to unveil some new products and it’s highly likely that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are both on the menu. A new report suggests that the upcoming flagship from Samsung is going to provide customers with an extended screen warranty.

It has also been claimed in a previous report that Samsung is going to introduce a phone upgrade program with the Galaxy S7, one that won’t be much different from the phone upgrade program that Apple announced last year.

According to the report, Samsung is very certain about the durability of the new chassis that it has created for Galaxy S7, it’s said that the device features a reinforced frame that might be fashioned out of a new magnesium alloy.

This would mean that the smartphone will be able to withstand drops without the glass on the front or the back completely shattering. Apparently it’s that confidence that will see Samsung offer an extended screen warranty in some markets. If customers drop the phone and break the screen in the first year Samsung will replace it at no cost to them.

Since this news does come from an unofficial source it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt for now. It’s not like extended screen warranties haven’t been offered before by other manufacturers so if Samsung does decide to do this it won’t be breaking any new ground.
