google_self_driving_car_prototypeIf you have always wanted to get on board Google’s payroll but never really figured out just which area in which you can contribute to the company, perhaps the latest round of hiring by the tech giant is your cup of tea. Basically, Google is looking for help when it comes to the manufacturing of its self-driving cars, having posted many different kinds of jobs concerning its self-driving Google X car project, where special emphasis is placed in manufacturing.

While Google has maintained that it will not build its own 4-wheeler in the past, the three dozen jobs listed has proven to be rather specific in the manufacturing niche. For instance, a marketing manager position has been listed with the task of having to “shape go-to-market strategy and storytelling to win hearts and minds of community members, influencers and governments”, which in itself is an indication that Google intends to be a force to be reckoned with in the self-driving car industry, from both technological and narrative aspects.

Apart from that, there is also a vacancy for a process engineer, whose job entails the likes of “designing factory assembly stations, optimizing production floor layout, automating critical manufacturing processes and approving fixture designs used in the assembly of electronic modules for the self-driving car.”

This bit of news does not come across as surprising at all, especially when we reported last year that Google would like to increase the production of self-driving cars. We do wonder whether Ford would be in the picture or not though.
