Google already offers 15GB of free Google Drive storage for everybody, there are paid options available to those who want more storage, but last year it offered an additional 2GB free to all users if they did a security checkup of their account. It hardly took more than a couple of minutes and as reward users got 2GB additional free storage forever. Google has brought back the incentive this year as well. All you need to do is perform a security checkup on your account.

It’s interesting to note that Google launched this initiative around the same time last year, Safer Internet Day, with the idea being to remind users just how important online safety is.

Don’t worry if you performed a checkup last year and already got your 2 gigs of free storage. This is stackable so if you perform another security check now you’ll get an additional 2GB of free Drive storage for a total of 19GB that you get to keep forever. That’s a pretty sweet deal.

The security review is simple enough. All you need to do is review your phone number and backup email that’s used to recover your password should you forget it. Users are also encouraged to review their security question. That’s all that needs to be done.

Just be sure to perform the security check on your account before the end of this month to get the 2GB of free Google Drive storage.
