The Simpsons is one of the longest-running animated series ever and it’s still going strong. It has already made history but there’s new ground to be conquered here. For the first time in the history of this series, our beloved Homer Simpson is going to be live on TV for three minutes.

In the three minutes that he’s live on the series Homer will be giving us his views on topical news with the subject ranging from the ongoing U.S. presidential campaign and even questions coming in from the audience via social media.

It’s a challenging task to bring this character to life since Homer is an animated character after all that’s only voiced by a human actor. To make this happen the team is going to use motion capture technology on voice actor Dan Castellaneta as he’s in the studio. This way everything the actor does is going to appear live, not just what he says as Homer Simpson.

It’s only going to be a three-minute segment that’s not going to look a lot different from the show but this is the first time in the show’s history that they’ve done something like this. This live segment of The Simpsons is going to air on both the West and East coast on May 15th. If you want to ask Homer a question tweet with the hashtag #AskHomer between May 1st and May 4th.
