instagramThe other day, Instagram rolled out a new feature which allowed users to switch between different accounts with ease. Unfortunately it seems that this new feature might have a bug that could cause some embarrassment. According to the folks at Android Central, this bug seems to let other people see your Instagram notifications.

However this only affects users who share a single account. For example if you and the other person have your own Instagram account, but you share another Instagram account for your company or maybe for work-related purposes, this bug will display the other person’s notifications on your phone, and vice versa.

Granted it should display notifications for the shared account, but for some reason it will display notifications for your personal account instead. It isn’t exactly a security vulnerability, but like we said, it can be embarrassing especially if you have a private Instagram account you don’t want others to see.

It also seems that this affects Direct Messages. According to Android Central who reached out to Instagram, it seems that they are aware of this issue and a fix is currently underway, so until then maybe you’ll want to stop sharing accounts until it is fixed, or if you’re not too fussed or have nothing to hide then we guess it won’t really be an issue.
