instagram-video-viewsThe folks over at Instagram have stepped forward to share that they will start to count the number of views on videos, and this ought to provide the marketing people with a more accurate picture on the sheer number of eyeballs that actually go through those clips. In the past, this was not possible, as Instagram videos and photos were measured via “hearts” as well as comments.

Instagram has categorized views as “the most widely expected form of feedback” when it comes to videos, and mentioned that users can check out the view counts in the coming weeks via the app. These view counts will be shown on videos that have been posted in the app and on ads. Similar to Facebook, a view is defined as passing the 3 second mark, and it might prove to be the next step for Instagram to help gain a slice of the marketing budget from the traditional TV platform over to mobile.
