lg-g5-batteryThe rumors have been suggesting that with the LG G5, we can expect a feature of the phone called the Magic Slot. Basically this is a slot where users can pop in and out various modules for the phone. We have heard the possibility that camera grip battery module is one of them, and another is a DAC built together with Bang & Olufsen, whose partnership LG has recently confirmed.

Turns out the rumor could be true, or at the very least we are seeing more evidence of it. This is thanks to a tweet by Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as @OnLeaks, in which a packaging showing a potential battery module has been posted. However in this particular photo, it shows what appears to be a regular battery module without any camera grip.

We suppose it is possible that LG has other modules planned. We can only assume that potentially this battery module could mean a bigger battery for the phone even though there aren’t any markings on the packaging to indicate the battery size. The rumors are claiming that the LG G5 might pack a 3,000mAh battery, so hopefully this battery module will be larger than that.

In some way it is almost like a modular phone. Project Ara has been in the works for quite a while now and has yet to be released, so perhaps the LG G5 could clue us in as to what we might be able to expect in the future. Either way, all will be revealed this coming Sunday, so check back with us for the updates.
