There is more to creating a cocktail than just mixing various beverages together. One needs to think about how much of one particular beverage to pour, what kind of beverages compliment each other, and so on. That being said, what if you could create cocktails based on tweets? This has led to the creation of the Data Cocktail.

Created by Clément Gault and Koi Koi Design, the Data Cocktail is basically an Arduino machine that is hooked up to the web, and when you want a cocktail made, the machine will then scour Twitter for the five latest tweets that mention keywords that are related to the ingredients that it has available and then mix you a cocktail based on that.

According to Gault, “When a cocktail is desired, the machine will look for the five latest messages [from] around the world quoting one of the available ingredients—these messages will define the drink composition. Data Cocktail not only provides a unique kind of drink, but it also prints the cocktail’s recipe along with the corresponding tweets. A gift you can take away.”

To top things off, the Data Cocktail will even thank the Twitter users who unknowingly provided the recipe to the creation of the cocktails. “Data Cocktail is a machine but it doesn’t exclude a minimum of politeness. Once the cocktail mix is realised, Data Cocktail will thank the tweeters who have, without knowing it, helped at realising it.” Unfortunately the Data Cocktail isn’t available for purchase, but it’s still a pretty cool idea and you can check it out in action in the video above.
