As many have heard by now, the BBC’s Top Gear was in a bit of a flux last year when one of its hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, got involved in an altercation with one of the show’s producers, leading to him and his other two co-hosts departing the show for good. Later, the BBC tapped Chris Evans to be the host, and now it looks like the show has gotten one more star.It has been officially announced that former Friends star, Matt LeBlanc (who played Joey on Friends, for those unfamiliar) will be the show’s co-host alongside Evans. According to LeBlanc, “As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter. What a thrill!” The actor had appeared on the show before, so now to see him co-host it will be interesting.
In a statement made by Evans, “Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
In the meantime, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are set to work on a new show that will be produced by Amazon, so it will be interesting to see how both shows will do against each other.
