tidalThe Tidal music platform has been around for a couple of years, although it was only last year that the platform gained more mainstream popularity when hip-hop mogul Jay-Z acquired the company. Since then, the platform has managed to net some pretty high-profile exclusives like that of Kanye West and Rihanna.

That being said, it seems that someone else has their eye on Tidal and according to The New York Post, it is none other than Samsung. According to the report, Samsung has been interested in acquiring Tidal for a while now, and has been in on and off talks with the company, but apparently it seems that Samsung’s interest has been renewed as of late due to some big project they have been secretly working on.

According to their source, “Samsung is re-engaging; they are working on something really big, and they’re keeping it very quiet in case it leaks.” However it seems that Samsung might not be alone in their interest as well. The report claims that in addition to Samsung, Google and Spotify have both been eyeing the company in the belief that acquiring Tidal could help boost their own music streaming services.

Right now Google and Samsung have music streaming platforms, but despite that, it seems that newcomer Apple Music seems to be doing a lot better not just in the numbers, but also in terms of awareness. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, and we’ll wait and see how this one plays out.
