safety truckWhile South America has been reeling from news of the Zika virus, here is something that might just lift your spirits – the Safety Truck from Samsung will see its concept being tried out over in Argentina, before plans continue so that these trucks with screens will eventually see a worldwide launch in four months’ time after that. Just to refresh our memories, the Samsung Safety Truck works this way – it has a camera in front that sends a live feed of what it sees to a quartet of weatherproof video monitors that are located at the back. This would enable drivers behind to check out what is right ahead, allowing them to pass in a safe manner.

It is definitely great in theory, so the value of it will only be able to be determined in real life with actual tests on the road .Why Argentina? That is a country that apparently has a whole lot of accidents each year without fail, and most of these involve cars trying to pass trucks.

Right now, this test is a pilot program, although Samsung has every intention of expanding the Safety Truck concept throughout the rest of Argentina, with the world being another target in four months’ time. [Press Release]
