The Discover section in the Snapchat app does pretty much what the name suggests. Speaking at a conference Joanna Coles, who is the editor in chief of Cosmopolitan and also happens to be a member of Snapchat’s board of directors, said that channels in Snapchat will morph into an e-commerce platform some day enabling users to buy from within the app.
It has actually been rumored previously that Snapchat might be working on a new feature that will enable users to purchase items from their favorite brands inside the app. Fashion labels are likely going to be a good fit for this unique e-commerce platform.
Even though these comments come from a member of its board of directors, the company itself isn’t confirming anything as yet about its e-commerce ambitions. If it does go through with this, which seems likely, Snapchat is going to open up another revenue stream for itself which is something it certainly needs to get as many as it possibly can.
