endar1-fullStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was released way back in 2003. This means that by now, the game is 13 years old, but the beauty of video games is that it doesn’t matter how old it is, fun is still fun, and it is considered to be one of the better RPGs out there even by today’s standards. It is also why it is unsurprising that the game still has quite a loyal following.

So much so that fans have decided that maybe the game should have its graphics updated, and some have taken it upon themselves to remake parts of the game using Unreal Engine 4. Safe to say that the end result looks pretty amazing and definitely worthy of games in today’s scene. Dubbed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: Apeiron, this is made by Poem Studios and will feature more than just a graphics overhaul.

The mod will also introduce new missions, planets, companions, and a first-person perspective that players can opt to use. Now the game is nowhere near complete which is also why the developers are asking for help from the community to help move things along. Best of all, the mod will be free, but presumably this is to give the folks at EA and Disney one less reason to shut it down.

No word on whether the studios will go ahead and shut it down anyway, but it is a beautiful project and given the renewed interest in Star Wars these days, largely thanks to the new movies, we’re hoping that they will keep it alive. In the meantime, details about the project can be found on its website.
