tmobile-signLast year T-Mobile launched an upgrade program called SCORE!. The idea behind SCORE! is that by paying $5 a month, you would be able to upgrade your phone to another, and potentially newer model every 6 months. The only downside to this program is that it seems to apply to entry-level handsets, so for those who desire higher-end devices, this isn’t the program for you.

Turns out that the program might not have been very popular at all, because according to a tweet by @PhonesReviewer, T-Mobile has started to send out SMS to subscribers of the program, informing them that the program will be discontinued. According to T-Mobile, the program will be officially coming to an end on the 31st of December, 2016.

“You still have one more upgrade. You’ll continue to make your monthly payment until you use your SCORE! benefit. After using your upgrade, SCORE! will no longer be available to customers and will be removed from your monthly bill after your next upgrade. You will not be able to add SCORE! to new devices after 12/31/2016.”

When TmoNews reached out to the carrier to clarify the details, they weren’t really given an explanation, although the statement did suggest that SCORE! was being replaced with JUMP! On Demand. “With JUMP! On Demand, we’ve got the best upgrade program in the industry. JUMP! On Demand allows you to upgrade to the hottest devices whenever you want, up to three times per year, and no additional fees.”
