It’s safe to say that there’s a considerable amount of interest in Ubisoft’s upcoming title. The Division has already been through a closed and open beta, both were put to the test by countless players, and most of them came back impressed. Ubisoft has revealed that The Division beta actually turned out to be the biggest beta for a completely new IP.

Ubisoft announced that more than 6.4 million players took part in the recent The Division open beta, making it the biggest open beta for a new IP.

On average, players were hooked to the open beta for 4 hours and 52 minutes. More than a third of that time was spent in The Division’s Dark Zone which had received an update before the open beta went live.

Dark Zone proved to be very popular during the time the beta was available as more than 2.5 million players went rogue. Players also extracted 63,309,800 contaminated items from there.

Creative director Magnus Jansen thanked the millions of people who joined in on The Division open beta, “we think the beta is going to help ensure a great launch for the game,” he added.

The Division will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on March 8th, 2016. A launch event has been planned for March 7th at Microsoft’s flagship retail store on 5th Avenue in New York City.
