scion-iqIt looks like all good things must come to an end, and on the other hand, not-so-good stuff too, should be gotten rid of before it is too late. Regardless of how you look at the Scion brand from Toyota, it will be no more in due time. Earlier this morning, Scion made an announcement that from the beginning of August, all 2017 model year Scion models will be sold under the Toyota name. Yup, there is a transition going on here, and this will include the FR-S sports car, iA sedan, iM five-door hatch, and C-HR. Do take note that the tC coupe will receive one final goodbye in the form of a last edition.

The brand Scion was kickstarted in 2003, with the hope of attracting younger buyers who are aware of what the Toyota brand offers in terms of value, but did not want to be seen to be associated with their parents and the family Toyota. While it kicked off rather strongly, there was no staying power, and eventually the thought dawned on just about everyone (with Toyota the last to get the memo, apparently) – why can’t Scions be Toyotas instead?

As for parts and repair support from Toyota, fret not, those will still be offered, as it is a matter of a brand transition more than anything else. [Press Release]
