watch dogs

Ubisoft saw tremendous success with Watch Dogs so it goes without saying that it will come out with a sequel. That has always been known but Ubisoft didn’t really say previously when the sequel will arrive. In its latest earnings release the company has mentioned that Watch Dogs 2, assuming that’s what the sequel will be called, is going to be released before April 2017.

In its earnings release today Ubisoft has detailed plans for its 2016-17 fiscal year which runs from April 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2017. Titles it’s due to release during this time include South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, For Honor and “the next installment of Watchdogs.”

That’s what Ubisoft has mentioned in its earnings release. It hasn’t revealed any details about the actual game itself or a proper release timeframe. It hasn’t even included the official title for this game so it’s just easier to refer to the sequel as Watch Dogs 2 until Ubisoft comes up with the official name.

Previous reports have suggested that the Watch Dogs sequel will be based in San Francisco and that it will be released before the end of this year. Ubisoft hasn’t commented on that so take it with a pinch of salt for now. The first Watch Dogs title was released back in May 2014 and it was based in Chicago.
