Uh-oh, it seems that over in the UK, Amazon is having some issues with the power adapters for their Kindle Fire tablets and the Fire Kids tablets. According to reports, it seems that these power adapters are at risk of shocking its users, so much so that Amazon has announced that they will begin recalling the adapters that were bundled with these tablets.Note that not all the tablets are affected, only those that were sold since September 2015. If you bought the tablets earlier then you should be fine, but for those who bought them after September, you might want to consider sending the adapters back to Amazon even if you haven’t experienced any of the issues that are associated with it, just to be on the safe side.
According to Amazon, “We have determined that, in rare cases, when the power adapter included with the UK Fire 7” and UK Fire Kids Edition 7” tablet is pulled from the wall socket, the adapter assembly may detach and create a risk of electrical shock. Affected adapters were sold only in the United Kingdom and Ireland from September 2015.”
They are also encouraging users to stop using the adapter and to send it back for a new one ASAP. “Please discontinue use of your original adapter. Until you receive a replacement adapter, you can use the included USB cable connected to a computer or another compatible adapter to charge your tablet.” If you’d like more details on how to redeem the adapter, hit up Amazon UK’s website.
