eos-rebel-t6-3q-hiResWhile compact cameras have indeed come a long way from back in the day, what with companies like Sony introducing compact cameras with 1-inch sensors, it’s still a bit hard to compete against DSLRs which not only have larger sensors, but also the flexibility of being able to swap between different lenses.

However if you’d rather not spend thousands of dollars on a high-end DSLR, and maybe you’re just looking to dip your toes into the water, you might be interested to learn that Canon has recently announced the Canon EOS Rebel T6. This is the company’s latest entry-level DSLR and with a price tag starting at $550, it is a very affordable way for photographers to get into the game.

Heck, compared to compact cameras like the Fujifilm X70, $550 does seem to be downright affordable. That being said, what can photographers expect for their money? The Rebel T6 will sport an 18MP CMOS APS-C sensor with a DIGIC 4+ image processing engine. It also comes with built-in WiFi and NFC connectivity for wireless transfer/control, a 3-inch LCD display, a 9-point AF system, an ISO range of 100-6,400 (can go up to 12,800), and Full HD video capture.

It is pretty basic as far as cameras are concerned, but like we said, with it being a DSLR, photographers will have access to Canon’s range of lenses, you’ll have the right tool for the occasion. The Rebel T6 will be going on sale this coming April where $550 will come with the camera and a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens.
