The original Contra game was certainly difficult – especially for modern gamers of today, and back then, it was also notoriously a challenge to complete, with the Spread gun being the best choice most of the time. Having said that, how about a revamp of an old title? What you see in the video above is the trailer for Contra Mobile, the classic title that has been given a facelift.

Konami is currently working alongside mobile game mega-publisher Tencent in order for them to roll out Contra Mobile on smartphones some time later this year. The two entities have shown off the very first gameplay trailer here, where folks who attended the Tencent UP event over the weekend were also privy to it.

Soldiers Lance Bean and Bill Rizer will once again strap on their battle boots, and players can control either one of them in the game. No doubt Contra Mobile remain true to its roots in terms of gameplay, there will be new features such as touch controls and a player-versus-player mode. It would be interesting to see how this classic that has been given a refresh will work out when it is finally released to the masses, and hopefully there will be a Western launch to boot.
