delta-airlines-flawTraveling by air used to be something that only the privileged few were able to afford, but it looks like things have taken a turn these days, where only Business Class and First Class seats are a whole lot more comfortable, while those in Cattle Class – er, Economy, squeeze it out by battling for legroom as well as arm space. It looks like there will be more consumer-friendly legislation that might provide travelers with new hope.

It all began with a proposed bill that will hopefully set the minimum seat sizes on planes, where a senator decided to have a closer look at hotel resort fees, while another decided that something should be done about airline surcharges. Before long, the Senate released one of the most passenger-friendly Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bills in a long, long time.

Airline passengers have long been unhappy with smaller seat sizes and ever increasing fees, where every single little thing is charged, and most are pleased with how Congress has reacted to the situation in recent times. In the FAA reauthorization bill, it will make it a requirement for airlines to notify passengers of their consumer rights, and for airlines to refund baggage fees for luggage that have been delayed more than 24 hours on domestic flights.
