Last year, Samsung launched a couple of mid-range handsets in the form of the Galaxy J5 and J7. They were launched around April and assuming we’re keeping to the same timeline, there is a good chance we could be looking at their successors in the coming weeks or months.
In fact in January, a benchmark sighting hinted at the Galaxy J5 (2016) model. That being said, it looks like both handsets appear to be very real, thanks to a listing on TENAA (China’s version of the FCC) which has revealed both the Galaxy J5 and J7 (2016), and in the process also appeared to confirm that both models will sport metal builds.
In terms of features and specs, the J5 will be the smaller of the two with a 5.2-inch 720p HD display, while the J7 will be slightly larger with a 5.5-inch Full HD display. Under the hood, the J5 will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a 13MP rear-facing camera with a 5MP front-facing shooter.
The J7 appears to come in two variants – one with an Exynos 7870 processor and the other with an unknown octa-core processor. It will also come with 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 13MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, 4G connectivity, and a 3,300mAh battery. No word on its release, but like we said 2015’s versions were launched in April, so perhaps we will be seeing them released around the same time as well.
